Ho Pui reservoir is a small reservoir in Tai Lam country park. Although, it’s a small reservoir but it provides you the calmness and peacefulness with its surrounding green sceneries.

Ho Pui reservoir is one of the easiest hiking trails in Hong Kong. Since it is in the Tai Lam country park you will be provided with the amazing green scenery along the trail. It is almost 4.8 kilometers (3 miles)  long trail in the loop.

How to get to ho pui reservoir

Getting to Ho Pui reservoir is very easy. You just need to take MTR and a Minibus.

MTR & MINIBUS

Get down at Kam Sheung Road MTR Station and exit from C. Walk about 100 meters towards minibus stop, which is just in front of the exit C, cross the road and walk straight towards the minibus 71 stop.

After taking minibus, ride all the way till the last stop of the bus and get down there. The hike will start from here. Just in front of you, you will see an alleyway that goes through the village. Start walking along through this alleyway.

Carry at least 1-liter water with you. You can buy the snacks and water or juice in the small shop which you will encounter in this alleyway. Just after walking for 2-3 minutes, you will come across a tri-junction take left from there.

As you hike you will be amazed by the view that you will get from the way towards the campsite. Keep walking on the road and you will reach Ho Pui Camp Site in a while.

When you reach Ho Pui Campsite you will come across another junction where you have to take a right turn to go for Ho Pui Reservoir.

If you wanna use the toilet you can use it here else further from here there is no toilet. Also, there is a small beautiful pool nearby campsite where you can swim and relax.

Generally, it gets crowded on Sundays and Public holidays. So, if you are a person who doesn’t like other people swimming around you then try to visit on weekdays.

Finally, walking for a few minutes you will reach your final destination. There is a Ho Pui Reservoir Family Walk which just goes around the reservoir in a loop. This loop is fun and there are so many beautiful Instagram-able places in this path.

While returning follow the same route. Take minibus 71 and ride till Kam Sheung Road MTR Station or if you are from Yuen Long then it is good news because the minibus is destined to Yuen Long so you can go there directly.
